Matthew Henry was the only male in a typing course in the late 70s. That two semesters of typing, was the catalysts to four decades of technology work. From programming Eliza (AI before AI) on a Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 1 to CIO and Dean of Innovative Education of a higher education institution and a national membership, policy and advocacy, and DoD contractor nonprofit in Washington, DC. Matthew served as eCommittee Chair at Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas.
In 2022, Matthew was diagnosed with a 5.5cm invasive moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma (cancer). After loosing his wife to lymphoma in 1997, cancer was a death knell. He had cared for his wife and saw her pass away, he was sure this was the path forward for him. At this point in life, a couple of years after excruciating chemo and proton radiation, Matthew is proud to wear the medal of survivor. And, he hopes that those wonderful faculty at the Medical Faculty Associates continue their path to eradication of this dread disease. The Cancer Moonshot will become a reality for all.
In founding People Over Tech, Matthew fulfills his life long passion that people should flourish through use of technology. When someone says, oh, I'm just not smart enough for this or that app, device, technology, that's not the person's fault, that's a technology problem.
Matthew loves it when technology works for humans. Solving problems, healing, expanding knowledge and overall making people better.
